One of the best aspects of serving on the Forbes Nonprofit Council is the knowledge-sharing capabilities among leaders from different nonprofit sectors. Sometimes it affirms we're already doing the right things at Buckner International, or the new perspectives make us think differently about opportunities. Recently, the Forbes Nonprofit Council collaborated on an article about how managers can best help build and maintain their team's skills and talents. This is certainly a topic of which I have many opinions. Many know me to be a proponent of lifelong learning. I believe it's critical to one's own personal development and certainly that of an individual's organization who will benefit from those abilities.
